Classes are drop-in on a first-come-first-served basis


Levels 1/2

Our beginning levels for children age 3 and up focuses on comfort in and around the water.

  • Class held on a tot-dock table
  • Blowing bubbles with rhythm
  • Floating on front with face in and out of the water
  • Back floating
  • Retrieving submerged objects
  • Sitting entry with asssistance

Completion of level 2 means coming off of the table and floating face-down for 10 seconds, as well as a 10 second back float.

Level 3

The first level in which swimmers may be over their head.

  • Streamline off the wall
  • Back glide independantly
  • Demonstrate an effective flutter kick
  • Travel 5 yards independantly
  • Explore whip kick
  • Retrieving submerged objects 3 - 4 feet deep
  • Jumping in to chest deep water and recover to the side

Completion of level 3 means the swimmer can glide off the wall, front and back, and travel 5 yards. Students can also maintain a streamline and enter by jumping in.

Level 4

The beginning of rotary/side breathing.

  • Freestyle arm stroke technique
  • Rotary breathing
  • Explore elementary backstroke
  • Back floating in deep water 30 seconds
  • Understanding Bouyancy

Completion of level 4 means swimming 10 yards without assistance, while demonstrating an understanding of side breathing. Students will also jump into deep water and recover to the side without assistance

Level 5

The beginning of fine tuning swimming skills.

  • Freestyle drills and critique
  • Backstroke drills
  • Backstroke stroke counting
  • Dolphin kicking
  • Treading water for 5 seconds
  • Circle swimming

Completion of level 5 means demonstrating 15 yards of backstroke, freestyle, and dolphin kicking. Students will jump in and tread water.

Level 6

Our highest regular lesson level.

  • Lengths of freestyle
  • Backstroke with body roll
  • Breaststroke arm pull
  • Underwater swimming
  • Sitting dives
  • Backstroke starts

Completion of level 6 means 25 yards of good freestyle and backstroke technique. Also, 25 yards of dolphin kicking and 30 seconds of treading required.
